Remarks at other observatories six years have been ‘sufficient to determine the absolute values, and the secular and periodical variations of the three magnetic elements, as well as those meteorological constants’. Refers to the instruments required for this purpose and the cost. Discusses the staff required including a director, assistants, and their role. Sabine sends a paper from proceedings of The Royal Society regarding the accomplishments of the colonial observatories, and what is expected of them. |
