Describes how an injured Laing arrived at the home of Sheikh Mochtar in the care of Sheikh Mahomed of Ghadamis. After two months, Sheikh Mahomed died, and two months later Laing was sent to Timbuktu to the home of Outman. One month after his arrival there, the Sheikh Sovereign sent a letter warning Outman to not let 'the Christian' travel any further into the interior, as this would result in the ruin of the country, as it had done in Spain. Outman subsequently sent Laing away in the company of an Arab Sheikh, and the Sheikh murdered Laing and 'took all his goods'. |
