Description | Explains to Robert Lee that the Royal Medals can be awarded to individuals for works not published in the 'Philosopical Transactions'. Gives examples of Mr. Lyall and Mr. Hamilton in 1834 and 1835. Includes an extract of a notice of the Transactions of 1845 which states the proposal of the Council to award a Royal Medal to the most important unpublished paper in Physiology. Hence the awarding of the Royal Medal for [Thomas Snow] Beck's Paper. [See MS/426/184 and MS/426/167] |
