Title | Copy letter from C R [Charles Richard] Weld, the Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to Dr [Samuel Elliott] Hoskins |
Date | 19 November 1850 |
Description | Acknowledges letter along with the cholera report on behalf of Mr [Thomas] Bell, who has had a minor accident. Informs his proposal for meteorological inquiries has been consulted by [Edward] Sabine. It is the opinion of Sabine that the Royal Society does not have the funds to carry out the method suggested and even if it did, it would be expensive to reduce the results to a useable set. Adds that similar observations in Scotland have cost a lot and came to nothing. |
