TitleCopy letter from B C [Benjamin Collins] Brodie; President of the Royal Society; to the Earl of Portsmouth [Isaac Newton Wallop]
Date26 February 1859
DescriptionInforms that the papers of Bishop [Samuel] Horsely, editor of Newton's works, have been submitted to the Royal Society, who have noticed they make reference to the 'Portsmouth papers', which have biographical notes on Newton's life. Asks for these paper to be sent temporarily to the Royal Society, so a committee can view and compare them with Sir [David] Brewer's work. Explains this will be a great service to the history of science and assures the papers will be greatly cared for.
