TitleLetter from J T [James Thomson] Bottomley, Netherhall, Largs, Ayrshire, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorBottomley; James Thomson (1845-1926); Irish physicist
Date26 April [1908]
DescriptionThey have seen a photographer named Stewart who bought all negatives belonging to Fergus, a well-known Largs photographer. Among the negatives are several of about the period Larmor wants, and Stewart is to send some photographs to choose from. These could be laid out in the Library at the Royal Institution on Friday evening, as Larmor suggested. The Bottomleys are sending the last photograph that was done of Lord Kelvin, and they like it the best, as does Lady Kelvin. Larmor should adopt it as his present day portrait, if he agrees. If so, he would rather it was not used by anyone else but the Royal Society for the present. Mrs. Bottomley wrote to Larmor about the daguerreotype. The present day photograph is by Dickenson, and Bottomley would like to know what Larmor thinks of it. Bottomley may be in London for Friday, but he cannot be sure.
