Title | Letter from G H [George Hartley] Bryan, Thornlea, Trumpington Road, Cambridge, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Bryan; George Hartley (1864-1928); Irish mathematician |
Date | 18 January 1891 |
Description | He would not have presumed to send the paper to Larmor, thinking that he would already have an abundent supply of copies. Bryan assumed he would be supplied as Secretary of Section A. That should have been the case, and at the same time Larmor should have had the return of his invaluable manuscript 'on L.A.' He asks if he has other papers of Larmor's. Has Larmor seen Poincare's thermodynamics, reviewed in Nature? Bryan would have been happy to supply a paper to the Cambridge Philosophical Society at the next opportunity, but not after his libellous attack on Mr. Hobson was allowed to appear in print without Bryan having the opportunity to modify it. He would have done this if he had received the proofs, but now he must find money to pay the damages, as the verdict will undoubtedly be against him. He asks if Larmor has seen Webb, and if he has escaped influenza. |
