Title | Letter from H A [Henry Andrews] Bumstead, Sloane Laboratory, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, to Sir Joseph [Larmor] |
Creator | Bumstead; Henry Andrews (1870-1920); American physicist |
Date | 11 February 1910 |
Description | He thanks Larmor for the letter of 26 January with just the information he needed on Wellisch [Edward Montague Wellish]. There is a second grade of Assistant Professor at $2,500 and he could get this if Wellisch would accept it. It has never been given to a young man before. He has written to J J Thomson to sound out Wellisch before any appointment is made officially. If Larmor could also talk to him with a recommendation, Bumstead would be grateful. Buumstead will see to it that he is not overburdened with teaching and he will have the opportunity for research. He may be sure of a friendly and cooperative atmosphere and if he turns out well, a full professorship would be assured. Bumstead hopes that he will see Larmor at New Haven next summer. |
