TitleLetter from Henri Becquerel, 6me Dumont d'Urville, Paris, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorBecquerel; Antoine Henri (1852-1908); French physicist
Date10 July 1906
DescriptionHe has received Larmor's letter of 8 July and does not know if he has understood it properly, or if he himself was misunderstood. He sends information on the difference between the titles of correspondent and associate of the Institute of France and limitations on membership. The Academie des Sciences of the Instutute has 116 correspondents, the last Sir William Crookes. He goes on to discuss the rarity of the title and the British correspondents, including Lord Kelvin, Lord Lister and Crookes. He notes the status of George Gabriel Stokes as a Foreign Associate.
