A specimen of this plant was noted in 'A catalogue of the fifty plants sent from Chelsea Garden, presented to the Royal Society... 1723', Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society volume 33, issue 383 (1724), p.93. It is also described in 'Horti Medici Chelseiani index compendiarius' (1739) by Isaac Rand, p.41.
