DescriptionLloyd informs Sabine of his certainty that he would like the small needles for the dip when Sabine had tried them. Lloyd has made a comparison of probable errors with needles of different sizes. Lloyd discusses the difficulty that small needles have to balance. Lloyd discusses his reason for making observations with a needle whose poles are reversed.

Discussion on the distance of [deflection]. Lloyd notes that m is to be determined in the usual method of observing the horizontal intensity, and discusses proportionate error in the total force.
