TitleLetter from Humphrey Lloyd, Kilcooney, Bray to Edward Sabine
Date9 November 1854
DescriptionDiscussion on Sabine’s magnetic report. Lloyd informs Sabine that he has forced Lloyd to revaluate his position on direct evaluation, though Lloyd is hesitant to abandon his previous convictions. Lloyd was most interested in Sabine’s results in different parts of the globe, and the “annual change of the diurnal variation”. Lloyd recounts a disagreement he had with Sabine on the relative importance of small magnetic changes in comparison to the laws of permanent distribution. Lloyd enquires about [John] Rae’s report.
