DescriptionSabine rejoices at Lloyd having found the reason for his erroneous results and in so doing saved the Irish portion of their British magnetic survey from failure.

Sabine describes the trial of his Gambey dip circle on a plan by Lloyd. Includes some of the results he recorded. Discussion of dip observations made at Westbourne Green, London, in 1835 and 1837 by [James Clark] Ross.
