| Description | Sabine is at this time finalising a report on the work of [Christopher] Hansteen and magnetic intensity on the continent, and sends thanks for, and replies to, some of Lloyd's comments on a draft. Importantly, Sabine states that he finds Hansteen's two pole theory of the Earth's magnetism irreconcilable with the facts of observation.
Sabine has received six needles from [John] Phillips which Phillips had vibrated at York and now Sabine plans to vibrate in London in order to unite York and the south. These needles had previously been employed on the Euphrates expedition [see MS/119/1/26].
