| Description | Lefroy discusses setting up a new observatory at Longwood St Helena. Lefory offers a letter of explanation until they can reduce the irregularities at the observatory. Acknowledges the vertical force instrument is perplexing him, as it shifted positions and moved, but the needle appears to be returning. Discussion on obtaining time of vibrations in a horizontal plane. Lefroy mentions changes being made to the magnet and the building which is not complete at present. Lefroy has gotten to the know the Island, and is convinced that it has perfect terrain for their experiment. Discussion on the advantages of Frances Plain, and other locations not yet visited. |
