Title | Letter from the Duke of Sussex to John George Children, British Museum, London |
Date | 30 October 1832 |
Description | Some of the handwriting has not yet been deciphered and this description is therefore incomplete.
The Duke of Sussex expresses his happiness that Francis Baily has agreed to join the Royal Society Council. Warns against prejudice [in relation to the election of Council members?] and expresses concern that the the Society Treasurer is guilty of this. States that where there are 'moral objections' they are bound to share them, in secrecy, to those in the correct quarter but that otherwise 'a good man is a good man'. Mentions the Society's auditors. |
