J O Halliwell in 'Catalogues of the miscellaneous manuscripts and of the manuscript letters in the possession of the Royal Society' (1840) states this is a quite distinct work from the 'Jordani Arithmetica' published by Faber Stapulensis at the commencement of the sixteenth century. The only other copy known of this work is in the Savilian Library at Oxford, and the distinction between the two was first pointed out by Dr Wallis in his treatise on Algebra. The rubric in the Savilian MS is 'Algorithmus Jordani tam in integris quam in fractionibus demonstratus'. |
