DescriptionWritten observations with pencil and ink sketches of volcanic activity at Vesuvius, in Italy, kept by Fr. Piaggio, on behalf of Sir William Hamilton. The work commences: 'continuazione delle osservazioni sopra il Vesuvio reltive al Diario interrotto' [continuation of the observations of Vesuvius related to the discontinued diary]. Following some introductory remarks, the observations recommence from 4 April 1795. The volume concludes with several papers and loosely inserted items including a print of the volcano and a letter: Antonio Piaggio, Resina, 20 August 1795, to Sir William Hamilton. This is endorsed verso: 'Padre Antonio's lost Letter with Diary to the 20 Augt.1795'.

The spine label is lettered: 'VESUVIO VOL.7. DA 4 APR AL 20 AGOST 1795'.
