Commencing: 'Whereas His late Majesty King Charles the second, by His Letters Patent...' and continuing 'Now I Sir John Pringle Bart., at this time President of the Royal Society, by virtue of the Powers and Authorities aforesaid, do by these presents nominate and appoint Samuel Wegg Esqr., being one of the present Council of the said Royal Society, my Deputy in the said Office of President...'

Signed 'John Pringle P.R.S.' and sealed by him. Sealed and delivered in the presence of John Robertson. With an embossed stamp for two shillings and sixpence.
