Description | No address was presented to the King [William IV] on the day he signed his name in the Charter Book. On his accession to the throne, President and Council transmitted through the Secretary of State a formal address in July 1830. The King replied, consenting to become Royal Patron and a deputation from the Royal Society attending him for his signature as Patron on 10 March 1831. An address was read by the President, the Duke of Sussex, while an address from the Society was presented to Her Majesty the Queen. Both of these were later printed in the Notices and Hudson encloses a copy. He awaits further instructions. |
