DescriptionSir John Herschel has requested that Lubbock should receive the Copley Medal on behalf of Poisson. He transcribes the President's words on delivering the medal to Lubbock. Lubbock will hold the medal until collected by a friend of Poisson's, or he will send it in by any method Poisson chooses. Lubbock states in a postscript: 'I wish you could come amongst us here, we would do everything to make your stay agreeable'.
