TitleCopy letter, James Hudson, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society, to George Biddel Airy
Date3 January 1833
DescriptionReplying to Airy's letter on the transmission of the Cambridge Observations entrusted to Hudson. The observations were received by the Roya Society after the half-yearly box to Leghorn [Livorno] had been dispatched. In consequence, the parcel for [Giovanni Antonio Amedeo] Plana and the other enclosures had to wait for the next box. This was sent within the past week and is on its way to Mr Falconer, the British Consul, who will forward the packet to Plana in Turin. The parcel for Gautier was enclosed in a box sent to the Institut de France on 25 May 1832, care of M. Bouvard. The parcel was consigned to Cardot, chief secretary at the Institut. Hudson hopes this will help Airy to direct Plana and Gautier to their respective packets. In future, Hudson will send a memorandum of the time and method of transmission for Airy's parcels. He encloses a copy of No. 9 of the Society's notices.
