TitleCopy letter, James Hudson, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society, to Lt [Thomas?] Drummond
Date19 July 1834
DescriptionHudson called at the Exchequer Office rooms in Somerset House, finding that the King's Remembrancer and Mr Brown, the Chief Clerk, have removed to the Temple. The rooms are now unoccupied, with records having been conveyed elsewhere. Hudson was able to walk through the apartments to be able to report on their present condition. The rooms were entrusted to Mr Vincent by Treasury order and he will require a release. However, the space could be claimed by the Royal Society and Royal Society immediately, leaving the basement level and its records to the charge of the housekeeper. It would be convenient if the societies could use the vacation season to make adaptions.
