DescriptionInforms P. Murphy that the President of the Royal Society [Lord Northampton, Spencer Joshua Alwyne Compton] will not give an opinion on inventions. Explains it will be entirely devoted to giving opinions if it was allowed. States if a paper describing scientific instruments are sent to the Royal Society, they will be judged for printing by the proper Officers. The Royal Society does not judge the patrons of inventions or discoveries with the exception of awarding medals in cases of extraordinary merit.
