TitleCopy letter from Lord Northampton [Spencer Joshua Alwyne Compton] President of the Royal Society; to William Sharp, Esq, Bradford
Date[February - April] 1841
DescriptionInforms the Council of the royal Socety were unable to look through William Sharp's paper, however after Lord Northampton [Spencer Joshua Alwyne Compton] has seen, an answer could not be delayed. Admits the paper has 'remarkable practicable suggestion', for the British Association. Agrees with Mr Christie that there are too many papers of a purely scientific nature to be read. Does not wish to set a precedent by accepting to review the project, as projects are easier to produce than scientifc papers. Lord Northampton fears a dangerous precendence has already been set, wishes for there to be no complaints from Fellows. [Letter is undated]
