DescriptionRegards the clash of appointments. Informs the President of the Royal Society that in consequence of being unable to take the Chain, no meeting of the Council was held. Explains the meeting of the British Association next Thursday means all of the Vice-Presidents will be Oxford and John William Lubbock has stated it 'is out of his power to provide.' Suggests the President appoint a temporary Vice President in case he also cannot attend and suggests Mr. [Richard] Owen, who will be happy to do so. Explains a meeting is necessary next week as the Earl of Brandon [James Bernard] and others intended to be admitted and there are papers to read.
