TitleCopy letter from C R [Charles Richard] Weld, the Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to Martin Barry M D
Date25 September 1847
DescriptionStates that the envelope arrived when Charles Richard Weld was out of town. Informs that the Clerks who are familiar with Weld's writing were able to tell that the seal was not his. Weld's convictions was that someone at the Post Office opened the letter thinking there might be a cheque, then placed it in another envelope when a cheque was not found and sent it to Martin Barry. Asks for the envelope if it is still in Barry's possession so an investigation can be begun.
