DescriptionAcknowledges two letters from Capt. [C. M.] Charles Morgan Elliot of the Madras Engineers to Lieut. Col [Edward] Sabine. This contains a brief statement of the operations of the Magnetic Survey of the archipelago of India, and proposes extending the survey to include and connect different Magnetic observations in India. Give the strong opinion of the Council that Captain Elliot 'indefaltable' services be taken advantage of to complete the survey of India in the manner suggested.
