DescriptionExplains that Dr Forchammer is an eminent Danish philosopher based in Copenhagen [Denmark]. This work is in the levels of lime in sea water, which has widened to investigate how this level diminishes from the equator to the poles. The Royal Danish Navy, who assists in his work cannot reach a few prominent places. One of these are just north of the Baring Straits, between the continents of Asia and America. Dr Forchammer asks for samples from 10 different places, including at various depths. The samples are to be labelled. Asks if Captain [Richard] Collinson should be informed to undertake this task. Also states belief that either Captain Miles or Captain Jones already has appropriate equipment that was used for a similar Arctic Expedition.
