Title | Copy letter from C R [Charles Richard] Weld, the Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to Lord [Henry] Brongham |
Date | 2 April 1850 |
Description | Is vexed to hear that [the printed version of] Lord Henry Brongham's paper is full of 'gross blunders.' Explains that the paper was taken to Messrs Taylor for copying, who assured Weld of his habit of copying mathematical papers. When Weld brought the issue up with him, Taylors defended themselves by stating a mathematical reader compared the copy with the original and found nothing wrong. To ensure a competent reader can investigate the reliability of the transcribers, asks for the original paper to be returned. States the reason why it was unnecessary to trouble Mr Millar to copy the paper was because Prof. [Thomas] Bell found the original document illegible. |
