DescriptionAcknowledges letter accompanying letter from Captain Elliott with observations taken by him during the magnetic survey of the eastern archipelago, and an abstract of the result in a convenient form for publishing. Informs it has been decided to publish the papers in the 'Philosophical Transacations'. In accordance to a letter dated 27 June 1849, the Court of Directors of the East India Company have agreed to take on part of the expenses of publication.
