TitleCopy letter from Edward Sabine, Treasurer of the Royal Society; to Dr [Peter Mark] Roget
Date17 February 1854
DescriptionInforms of a claim of the late Mr Bate's executors for £157. 16. 10 for apparatus furnished and used by Mr Bate for the Excire Committee in 1836. Having looked through the final report of the Committee, dated February, March 1836, could find nothing to answer the claims, nor why Mr Bate did not present the bill to the Council at the time. The Executors had made a claim for £194. 15. 2 in May 1850, to which Mr Faraday responded in regards to the instrument and work, but not the fact that the bill was not presented on time. Explains that the Council have found all of those members of the Excire Committee had died apart from Dr Roget himself. Sends the mentioned documents and asks Roget to write to John Lubbock, [Michael] Faraday and [William Thomas] Brande, and the Council with his recommendations.
