TitleCopy letter from C R [Charles Richard] Weld, the Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to Sir James South
Date1 April 1856
DescriptionInforms that Lord Rosse's memorandum has not appeared in the Royal Society Journal, as it was intended only to be printed and circulated among the Members of the Council. Mr [William] Tite suggested on the meeting of the Council (28 June 1855) that Rosse's changes to the certification of candidates be considered by a special committee. On 8 November 1855 Council meeting, Mr Tite believed it would be too difficult to continue with the measures proposed in terms of affecting the Charter of the Royal Society and advised it should be dropped.
