TitleCopy letter from [John] Wrottesley; President of the Royal Society; to Sir W C Trevelyan
Date21 November 1856
DescriptionAcknowledges letter from the Microscopical Society. Inform that as the Microscopical Society is unchartered, it was not offered rooms at Burlington house. Assures once the chartered Societies have been settled the government intends to look into accommodation for the unchartered Societies. As for providing rooms temporarily, the Royal Society cannot grant this without others asking for the same. Also states that the Linnean and the Chemical Societies [Royal Society of Chemistry] will be in the same situation, and cannot grant rooms until they have settled in Burlington house and familiarised themselves with the rooms and how much they need.
