Date24 January 1884
DescriptionUpdates the Under Secretary on the expenses of the recently returned Circumpolar expedition to Lake Slave, which the Canadian government agreed to provision for transport costs. The overall costs run at 5315 dollars, exceeding the 4000 dollar limit for transport from and to Halifax. Explains the party travelled from Quebec instead, hence the addition expenses. Captain Dawson has been given all of the accounts, including charges from the Hudson Bay Company and has totalled all travel expenses, including sustenance at 3220 dollars and 21 cents. Asks for this account to be forwarded to the Canadian government for their contribution.
