| Description | Geikie has been waiting for Scott to read Shaw's answer to criticisms about the Meteorological Volume from the Discovery Expedition more thoroughly, and possibly to change his views on them. He has not replied to Shaw's last letter concerning additional errors in the Meteorological Volume because he did not think it contained any new points. Geikie blames the poorly kept Expedition records for the errors that Scott found in the column , not Shaw's group. After talking to other officers of the Royal Society, Geikie has submitted the correspondence to Admiral Field to review. He repeats that he thinks Scott would be acting wisely if he pursued the matter no further. Every mistake can be corrected in the second Meteorological Volume, which is already in preparation. |
