| Description | He has seen Woodhead and asked him about the £145,000 special grant. His account of the position was that Humphrey sent an account to the Board of Education last term, estimating the loss of income to the Cambridge Departments caused by the War. Woodhead is confident in thinking that in framing it, the Advisory Committee allowed in it a special grant of unknown amount to the Cambridge Medical School. He encloses a letter which seems to confirm Woodhead's opinion. He agrees with Larmor that the University could not get a penny out of the £145,000 for objects outside the limits of medical education. However, an application for a special grant would get a sympathetic hearing and it might be paid from next year's estimates. He asks that the Board of Education letter be returned. |
