Description | Landscape view of Sir Isaac Newton's birthplace in Lincolnshire. The manor house is set in trees with a group os eated women in the foreground. Another woman walks towards the door of the house carrying a basket. The supposed Newtonian apple tree is visible on the right of the picture, re-growing from a fallen trunk. Signed lower left in pencil "G.Rowe Del." Inscribed verso in ink [by Charles Turnor]: "N.W. view of the Manor House at Woolsthorpe drawn by G.Rowe, Cheltenham from th eoriginal Picture in my possession by Thos. Howison". |
