DescriptionExpressing regrets for his sudden departure from England and noting the receipt of two letters by Fox. Asks for instructions on the use of Fox's magnetic dip instrument, now on its way to Paris. Forwards the address of Mr Ayrton in Manchester for the purpose of payment and carriage arrangements. Recounts an interview with Colonel Sabine held before leaving England, in which Sabine commented that d'Abbadie's projected tour in southern France had already been completed by Fox. Requests a reference to the published magnetic observations made in the course of the tour.
