TitleLetter from S[tephen] P[eter] Rigaud, Oxford, to [Francis Baily]
Date22 January 1838
DescriptionWants to make sure Baily does not think Rigaud has neglected his commission about Ptolemy. Cannot give him a satisfactory answer because the ink on the manuscript is very faint and he does not yet feel familiar with the writing. Assures Baily he will do the best he can before they meet, which he hopes will be on 8 February. Explains his timing issues in regards to private business; regrets leaving Oxford in the middle of term; but is pleased he will be able to attend the council in London on 9 February. Thanks Baily again for the trouble in assisting him with his paper. Wonders if Panizzi is 'meditating a reply'. Asks Baily to let him know if Panizzi does reply, as he often does not receive news from the metropolis in a timely fashion while in Oxford.
