TitleDraft letter from Michael Foster to Colonel Donnelly
Date17 May 1882
DescriptionInforms that since the date of his last letter (17 April), the government grant committee met and considered the applications that had been received, and so Foster is now in a better position to judge the requirements for the present year than he had been before. Believes he still has a balance in hand but that further applications may be expected which would in all probability absorb that balance. States that the president and Council are very anxious not to make unnecessary demands on the government, and are willing to forego the balance for 1881-2, as they believe that this may be done at present without prejudice to the interests of Science.
