Title | Letter from H[enry] B[rougham] Guppy, 17 Woodlane, Falmouth, to [Henry Bowman Brady] |
Date | 3 December 1886 |
Description | Understands that a misunderstanding about the New Ireland rock is also to be found in the Geological Magazine for 1877, where a paper of professor Liveridge's precedes Brady's report. Is glad that 'specimen 810' is proving interesting, and says that more like it are on a slide he had sent to John Murray. Believes the geological age of the Solomon Island deposits is recent as they are little raised above the sea (specimen 810 is an example). Discusses other specimens found in the Solomon Islands by Murray. Expects that now that attention has been drawn to these deposits, Brady would soon be having his collections supplemented from other parts of the Pacific, from New Guinea and the Indian archipelago. |
