| Description | Asks if it is too soon to ask Brady if he had been able to examine the chalky deposits from Barbados Jukes-Browne had sent him in the previous summer. Also sent samples to Dr Murray, who reports them to be similar to the modern oceanic deposits, 'the red earths containing a few radiolarian debris and being as suspected like the oceanic red clays.' Has received another box from professor Harrison containing samples of chalky earths from several localities, and he may send Brady one of two of these. Says there is no longer a hurry for the results as he has nearly all the necessary material for his paper. Is busy on a new edition of his uncle Jukes's School Manual of Geology, and will turn to the Barbados work once he is finished. |
