Description | Had received pamphlets and a letter from Brady weeks earlier, but had been too busy with the end of the school year to make an immediate reply. Hopes Brady received a box through the Smithsonian Institute which White believes has specimens that will be of great interest to him. Mentions his trip to northern Iowa and explains the discoveries he made on deposits there. Will read a paper on the subject at the meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science on 21 August. Would be happy to meet Brady or any other English scientist there. He had been confident they would meet in San Francisco, but a failure to make satisfactory arrangements occurred and thus the meeting was relocated to Iowa (despite its distance from the sea, the 'facilities for travel', between California and Iowa, 'are very speedy and also safe and comfortable'). Will always be at Brady's service whenever he can further his interests. |
