Description13 brown paper envelopes labelled to indicate the papers they contain, who deposited them and when. Some are stamped 'On His Majesty's Secret Service' and some of these bear the official classification 'secret'. Some envelopes also have red wax seals either in plain sealing wax or stamped with insignia and decorative motifs. One bears a stamp of the Royal Society in red ink, another the annotation 'Proceedings C' indicating that the paper it contained was intended for eventual publication in 'Proceedings C of the Royal Society'.
