Description | If Sir Hans [Sloane] abdicates, Richmond promises his vote to Folkes and would come to town for the purpose [the election of a President of the Royal Society]. He guessed what happened in the other affair, 'what a couple of damn'd rascals the Doctor & the Captain are'. He hopes that Folkes will attend Cheale's coronation, who must have been 'fine, loud & curious' in Westminster Abbey. He encloses a letter from 'poor Martin' who is fit for Fellowship and begs that Folkes will recommend him. Richmond sends his letter to Crane Court imagining that Folkes will be there on Thursday. |
