AdminHistoryFollowing an earlier expedition to the atoll, permission was granted for the Society to set up the Aldabra Research Station. Having commenced in 1969, the building work was completed and the Station formally opened in June 1971. Further information about the establishment of the Station and its purposes can be found in DJH Griffin's 'The Aldabra Research Station' (Notes & Records of the Royal Society of London 1974, 29).
