TitleField notebooks of Dr Stephen T Trudgill relating to the Royal Society's Aldabra expedition
Date1969
DescriptionNotebooks written by Dr Stephen T Trudgill (fl.1972-2015), biogeographer. The volumes contain geological data, sketches, journal entries and other data from the Royal Society Aldabra expedition.

In August 1967, the Royal Society began a major expedition to Aldabra, a coral atoll in the Indian Ocean. By 30 June 1971, the Society had opened a well equipped research station on Aldabra. Work carried out as part of the expedition included inventory work (for example, on plants and insects), surveys in geology and geomorphology, the establishment of a meteorological station, and studies of land birds and the tortoise population.

Dr S T Trudgill, then of the Department of Geography, University of Bristol, worked at the Aldabra Atoll from June - September 1969 and from March - May 1971, specialising in limestone solution and soils.

The notebooks are stamped 'University of Bristol Soils Laboratory, Geography Department'.
