DescriptionCollection of photographs and written material related to the diamond window crafted by the Dutch Diamond Company for the Pioneer multi-probe and orbiter space craft to withstand the extreme conditions that would be experienced on Venus. 11 photographs of the mission include the diamond window, the launch of Pioneer and the planet Venus with accompanying press releases, and a four page colour publication by the Dutch Diamond Company about the window, its creation and the mission, titled 'A Diamond to Venus'. Three photographs are in colour; the Pioneer spacecraft, the launch and the crescent of Venus (NASA image). Seven photos are black and white, as well as a glossy black and white diagram of the spacecraft.

The Pioneer spacecraft launched 20 May 1978 and reached the orbit of Venus 4 December 1978 with the probes descending on 9 December 1978.
