| Description | Thanks Boys for his letter and mention of what he has observed. Hopes Boys will allow him to keep the quartz fibres a little longer. The number of bands Stokes has observed was greater when seen by what he thinks is transmission. The plane was perpendicular to, not parallel, to the fibre. He means to try the experiment with the double image prism. He beleives that the difference between the two spectra was due to the diference in direction by which the rays entered the eye. |
